Journey with Us for Justice!
We're often reminded...Sometimes prior to kickoff on Sundays or on social media via the latest trending hashtags urging us to say his or her name. For many communities, a painful shared experience with our nation's criminal justice system is inescapable. Rather than retreating into despair, the extended family of neighbors, friends and church folk find healing in the hurt by banding together and championing for justice. And we want to help facilitate similar healing experiences. On Friday, September 28, 2018, the Charleston Activist Network is gathering its extended Lowcountry family and traveling to Montgomery, AL for a 3 day, 2 night Journey for Justice to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and Legacy Museum. We will return to Charleston on September 30, 2018. Creating safe spaces for healing and reflection for communities disproportionately impacted by mass incarceration, the school to prison pipeline and state sanctioned violence perpetrated upon unarmed citizens is vital to our overall well-being. With that in mind, we've organized a travel event that will serve to move and educate each participant. Trip Destination Highlights: -The National Memorial for Peace and Justice -The Legacy Museum -The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site
